Why Refinish Your Deck
Restore the wood. Protect the investment.
A Toronto deck takes a beating — rain, snow, UV, freeze-thaw and foot traffic — and after a few seasons the stain fades, the wood greys, and splinters start. Most decks don't need replacing; they need proper brightening, sanding and re-staining to look new again.
Is It Time?
Signs your deck needs staining
-
Wood looks grey or faded
-
Old stain is peeling or worn off
-
Water soaks in instead of beading
-
Surface is rough or splintering
-
Dark spots, mildew or discoloration
-
It's been 2+ years since the last refinish
How It Works
The deck restoration process
Four steps, done in sequence, weather permitting — typically 1–3 days depending on deck size.
-
1
Deep clean
We pressure wash the deck to strip dirt, mildew, and any failing old stain — opening up the wood grain so new product penetrates properly.
-
2
Brighten
A specialty wood brightener restores the natural colour of the wood, neutralizes the cleaner, and opens the grain — critical prep for stain absorption.
-
3
Sand
We sand the boards smooth — removing raised grain, splinters, and any remaining surface damage. The wood is now ready to receive stain evenly.
-
4
Stain & protect with Cutek Extreme
We finish with Cutek Extreme, a premium penetrating oil that protects the wood from the inside out — not a film that sits on top and peels in two years. It soaks deep into the grain so the finish never cracks or flakes, with optional Colortone tints for richer colour.

How much does deck staining cost in Toronto?
Pricing depends on the size and condition of the deck, so we provide a free, no-obligation on-site estimate with a clear written price. Book your project at the estimate and save 10%.
How long does the process take?
Most decks take 1–3 days from cleaning to final coat, depending on size and weather. Cutek requires dry wood and dry conditions for proper absorption, so we time the work around the forecast.
How long will the finish last?
Because Cutek penetrates rather than coats, it weathers gradually and never peels. Most decks benefit from a maintenance coat every 2–3 years — far simpler than the strip-and-restain cycle of film stains.
Can you change the colour of my deck?
Yes. Cutek's optional Colortone tints add rich, natural-looking colour while letting the wood grain show through. We'll bring sample boards to your estimate so you can see options on your actual wood.
When can I walk on the deck after staining?
Light foot traffic is typically fine within 24 hours; heavy use (furniture, BBQs) we recommend waiting 48–72 hours for full cure. We'll give you specific guidance based on the conditions on your project day.
What's the best time of year for deck staining?
Late spring through early fall is ideal in Toronto — warmer temps and lower humidity. Our calendar fills fastest May through August; book early.
